Balconies and concrete floor painting for apartment building
This brick apartment building in Chicago had four separate metal balconies that were in need of paint. The client also wanted the concrete floor painted, which required knowledge regarding two different types of paint that would adhere correctly to two different types of surfaces. This project also included painting metal railings, the metal perimeter around the balcony, metal posts and metal undersides.
We applied BASF membrane coating on the concrete floor of all four balconies. We used a spot prime technique for railings, using Sherwin Williams Recoatable Epoxy primer. We then applied two coats of Sherwin Williams HI-Solids polyurethane. For the floor, we used a MasterSeal M200 Membrane. The first top coat was MasterSeal TC225, and for the second coat, we used MasterSeal TC225 Broadcast. The final coat, which is integral in preventing residents from injury, was Silica Anti-Slip Aggregate.
